THE WATERPROOFING CO LTD

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

The Waterproofing Co Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides membrane waterproofing services — TPO, Torch-On and Tanking — to residential and commercial clients and builders across Auckland, Waiheke and Mangawhai. This policy explains what personal information we collect through waterproofingcompany.co.nz and in the course of our work, how we use and store it, and the rights you have over it.

We collect and handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ). This policy applies to visitors to our website and to clients, builders and suppliers we deal with directly.

1. Information we collect

We collect personal information directly from you, and it may include:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Site or project address

  • The content of any enquiry, message or job details you send us

We collect this information when you submit the enquiry form on our website, email or call us, or engage us for a quote or project.

2. How we collect information

  • Directly from you — through our website contact form, by email, or by phone

  • Automatically, through your use of our website (see “Cookies and analytics” below)

  • From builders, architects or other parties involved in a project, where they provide us with your details to arrange or coordinate work

3. Why we collect and use it

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotes

  • Schedule, deliver and manage waterproofing work

  • Communicate with you about a project, including changes, site access or scheduling

  • Meet our legal, accounting and insurance obligations

  • Improve our website and understand how it’s used

We don’t use your information for anything beyond these purposes without asking you first.

4. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Tag Manager, Google Ads tracking and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand how the site is used and to measure the performance of our advertising. These tools may place cookies on your device and collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and how you arrived at the site.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of the website function, but you can still contact us directly by phone or email.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We don’t sell or rent personal information. We may share it with:

  • Builders, contractors, suppliers (e.g. Viking, Nuralite, Equus, Allco) or other trades directly involved in a project you’ve engaged us on

  • Our website host, email provider and other IT service providers, to the extent needed to operate our systems

  • Google and Meta, through the analytics and advertising tools described above

  • Our accountant or insurer, where required for our business or legal obligations

  • Any party we’re required to disclose information to by law

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use — including Google and Meta — store or process information on servers located outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we rely on those providers’ own privacy and security standards, which are generally comparable to the protections required under the Privacy Act 2020.

7. Data storage and security

We store personal information in secure, password-protected systems (including email and cloud-based tools) and take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure, but we don’t hold more information than we need, and we don’t keep it longer than necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

8. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as it’s needed to deliver a project, meet our legal and accounting obligations (including the seven-year record-keeping requirement under NZ tax law), and support any warranty claims on completed work. After that, we securely delete or de-identify it.

9. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask us:

  • What personal information we hold about you

  • To correct it if it’s wrong

  • To confirm how it’s been used or disclosed

To make a request, contact Anthony using the details below. We’ll respond within the timeframes required by law, and we won’t charge you for a reasonable request.

10. Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, contact us first so we can sort it out directly. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at

privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we change how our website works or start using a new tool or service. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated.
